"The First Law of Cyber-Terrorism Anything that can be turned on under program control can be turned off; anything that can be controlled remotely can be thrown out of control remotely." Destiny Allen doesn't even like on-line games. A Web designer for computer security giant Scenaria Systems, she finds herself involved in a deadly puzzle that blurs the boundaries between the virtual and the real. At stake the infrastructure of modern America. Her resources Dina Gustafson, a college friend, and Karl Lustig, an Israeli technology journalist with friends in dark places. The challenge sort the good guys from the bad before the lights go out. Intricately plotted at a breathless pace, this technology thriller from novelist Lior Samson (author of Bashert and The Dome) is about real risks and virtual worlds, about Internet threats as close as tomorrow's nightly news, and about the ever-escalating warfare between black-hat hackers and modern society.

Also available in the four-volume set The Homeland Connection (ISBN 978-0-9885275-1-5).

This is a technically detailed and action-filled story about cyber-terrorism.

The characters are great and range from the strong females who find themselves in the midst of the action almost by accident, to the nerds who show other sides of themselves and play deeply in the plot and in the action, both physically and through their computer skills, and the power-obsessed megalomaniacs. Add to the cast the kids who ... well, you'll have to read the story to find out. I also liked the relationships that built throughout the story although I was wary of some that started out as conflicts but became cooperation later.

This book kept my attention throughout and was technical enough to pique my interest yet not so much as to bury the action and plot in nano-nonsense. The pacing was great!

Web Games The Homeland Connection Book 3 edition by Lior Samson Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Lior Samson's new book is a great follow-up to "Bashert" for readers who want their brain to be well-fed while enjoying the thrill-ride of action suspense. As the characters unravel the plot behind a cyber-terrorist attack on a coal-fired power plant they follow a trail of clues through the worlds of on-line gaming and Hayduke 2.0. Oh -- the Isreali spies add some spice to the story, too. If you enjoyed the mental calesthetics needed to follow "Inception" and "Tron" you'll probably like this, too. I don't even play online games, but I couldn't put this book down.
"Web Games"by Lior Samson is a well-written novel about cyber espionage that threatens to close down many power plants in the USA. Samson is an Israeli author and this book is the third in a series, the first titled "Bashert".
This book by Lior Samson has a variety of qualities that will pleasantly surprise you. The story swiftly pulls the reader into a stream of events, entangling the many characters in a complicated plot with seemingly unconnected situations and circumstances that, step by step, unfold into one big puzzle as we get to know the players of the game. At the same time, the two main characters get closer to the reader, as they develop a respectful and admiring passion for each other in a moving and warmhearted way, while getting drawn into the dreadful challenge that requires them to take responsibility and decisions that may either save society or cost dearly.
For those who know the author and his other works, this book also will be a feast of recognition. The characters instantly come to life, as if you've known them for years, but Lior Samson also knows his stuff and connects technology and society in a scarily realistic way that will make anyone, even the nerdiest geek, think twice the next time they get online.
I've read 4 of Lior's books now and, while I enjoyed all of them, I enjoyed this one enough to write my first review on . It's part 3 of a 4 part series, but can be read standalone. Lior (under his real name) has a background in Computer Science which means - most unusually for a thriller with a technology backdrop - he gets all the details right. Well, apart for the jabs at OSX because it is clearly superior )

So, if you want an interesting read with well developed characters, complex plot lines, an interesting setting (esp given the Stuxnet virus), and an ending that left me with one very short nail, then get it. Or do what I did - and just buy the boxset )
I must admit a bias -- I am a huge fan of Lior Samson's writing. His previous novels Bashert and The Dome were outstanding, but he tops the cake with[[ASIN0984377220 Web Games].

What an outstanding tech thriller -- better than Tom Clancy. The chilling subject is cyber terrorism and the potential threat that hackers can pose to our security and privacy. Samson really knows his stuff and you learn a lot about computers and computer hacking in this novel.

Some of the great characters from the two previous novels are back and although this can be read as a standalone, your experience is enriched if you've read the previous two. I read a lot of thrillers (my favorite genre) and this ranks up there as one of the best I've read in 2011. Five stars fully deserved!
This book is exceptional. It is very well written and engaging. And the story that it writes about is plausible.
Fast moving, technical at times (but explained in layman's terms often for other non-nerd characters), this story is suspenseful, mysterious and imaginative.
